The South Metro Finally Has Its Halloween Party

Look at where Denver’s big Halloween events actually are: Lafayette, Westminster, Thornton, downtown. The whole season drifted north — which means if you live in the Tech Center, Greenwood Village, Centennial, Lone Tree, Highlands Ranch, Englewood, or south Aurora, “going out for Halloween” has quietly meant a 45-minute drive each way and a surge-priced ride home from another county. Except it doesn’t. Paranormal Palace — the 21+ hotel takeover, seventeen years running — happens at the DoubleTree by Hilton at I-25 and Orchard, in the middle of the south metro. This is the one that’s minutes from your house.

And that’s the outbound leg, sober, at 8 PM. The trip that actually matters is the one home — which brings us to the argument this page exists to make.

Play the whole night forward. Halloween 2026 is a Saturday — the first since 2020 — so every event in the metro lets out into the same surge window between midnight and 3 AM. If your party is in Lafayette and your bed is in Highlands Ranch, your options at closing time are: a designated driver who just spent six sober hours ferrying you across two counties, a rideshare quote with a number in it you’ll be telling people about for a week, or the genuinely bad idea nobody should choose. That’s not a party plan; that’s a logistics problem wearing a costume.

The south-metro version of the night: the party is ten minutes from home, the E and R light rail lines run to the Tech Center — Orchard Station is a short walk from the DoubleTree, with the E Line connecting from Lincoln Station in Lone Tree and the R Line through Aurora, so half the south metro can ride to the door in costume — and the shortest ride of all is the elevator. Book a discounted room upstairs and nobody drives anywhere: when the ballroom closes at 1, you change floors instead of counties, and the room party collects the bonus hour when clocks fall back at 2. This isn’t the consolation-prize local option — it’s a seventeen-year production that people drive down from the north metro for. The DoubleTree becomes the event: an 8,000 sq ft Haunted Forest ballroom of decor, staging, and bars; a multi-level atrium maze of walkways and light shows ringed by 41 balcony rooms looking down on the dance floor; three DJs and 20+ performers running theatrical acts all night; and Colorado’s largest costume contest — $2,500 in cash and prizes, decided at midnight.
